Oksana Mindubaeva
DANCE AND CIRCUS ARTIST
How do I position? Positioning, posing, pose … do I pose? Yes, I do, I’m a circus artist, I keep the pose three seconds at least. We all posing sometimes, but for me circus art is not only the manner to impress the public, although it helps a lot to attract attention, it’s something extraordinary in the field of performing arts, risky and routine braking but also, it’s the language I use to tell my story. This language can be filled not only by breathtaking acrobatic tricks but also by metaphors, images, signs and hints that create peculiar artistic universe, a new architectural world that makes possible the coexistence of human and superhuman. It’s the language of a dialogue between the artist and the audience where the author brings to light some idea, some happening, something he really care of, he makes people think of that something, feel it, empathize… or not.

Who is Oxy?
– She’s a dancer, I can tell, just look at her walk.
– Nah, she’s from the circus, that’s what they say. Those shoulders!
– I’ve known her for ages. She was a guitar and a voice in a punk band. Wonder if she ever got any better… back then it was more noise than music.
– I saw her drawing yesterday. Nothing special, just some apples, she was at it for hours.
– Did you know she makes some of her outfit? No idea if it’s because she’s broke or has loads of time. Sometimes it’s like she’s sewing herself together!
– She was in a few of those weird arthouse films too, you know, the kind no one really gets.
– And she’s modeled. Not fashion stuff. More like… for artists, photographers who are after something different.
– Maybe she’s all that. Or maybe she just makes it all up so we keep talking about her.
